Confirm it's your size

  1. Read the bar stamp. Near the tail of the guide bar you'll usually find pitch, gauge and drive links, e.g. 3/8 LP .050 68. Some bars stamp the Oregon bar number instead — look it up on oregonproducts.com.
  2. Count the drive links on your old chain — the teeth that ride inside the bar groove, not the cutters. It must be exactly 68.
  3. Low profile is not full profile. 3/8" LP and 3/8" full-profile chains share the "3/8" but are not interchangeable.
  4. If the stamp is worn off, the owner's manual lists the bar and chain; find it on the manufacturer's support site.
